The chemical heat pump system involves the combination of an endothermic reaction at low temperature and an exothermic reaction high temperature. It essentially absorbs heat at low temperature and liberates the same at high temperature. Normally a reversible reaction such as dehydrogenation of 2 -propanol to acetone at low temperature and hydrogenation of acetone at high temperature is chosen for this purpose. The reactions can be performed in RD units in order to achieve good conversion, in-situ separation, and high energy-efficiency .
