The justification for choosing constant reflux as opposed to constant reflux ratio is given in Table 6.1. The information obtained in the previous section is used. Product purities are fixed, and feed composition is varied. Instead of looking at the temperature profile, we note the required changes in reflux flowrate and reflux ratio. As the results in Table 6.1 clearly show, the required changes in reflux flowrate are much smaller than the required changes in the reflux ratio.
